Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Martina Dalić, is visiting Iran from 05-08 May. She met with VP Nobakhto, Minister of Economy and Finance Karbasiyan and the Central Bank Governor Saif. Meetings were mostly about how to strengthen bilateral cooperation, with emphasis on establishing the payments system.
Dalić stated that Iran’s 80 million person market is an opportunity for Croatian companies in energy, engineering, food industry, pharmaceuticals, tourism and others.
Dalić is accompanied by a delegation of businessmen organized by the Croatian Chamber of Commerce, who announced a session of the Joint Business Council of the CCC and its Iranian equivalent. The Iranian-Croatian Business Forum was established last year in order to identify obstacles to improved economic cooperation. The CCC is looking in particular at oil and gas industry, car manufacturing, electrical power, ship building, food industry, tourism and railroad traffic.
Total exchange between Iran and Croatia as a meagre EUR 58 million, with Croatia exporting only EUR 5.3 million (up 33.6% from the year before). Iran’s exports to Croatia, in the meantime, went from EUR 537,000 in 2016 to EUR 52.8 million in 2017.
