Textile Industry Results 2002-2016

Fina published results for textile industry for the period from 2002-2016, showing that some things have changed while others stayed more or less the same. In 2002, there were 255 companies in textiles, and in 2016 there were 279. In 2002, total revenue for all of them was Kn 1.59 billion, and in 2016 somewhat less at Kn 1.55 billion. However, the number of profitable companies grew significantly –only 166 companies ended the 2002 in the black, while in 2016 there were 206 companies making a profit.
But this total profit amounted to only Kn 89 million (somewhat under EUR 12 million), while the net loss of the remaining 73 companies amounted to Kn 43 million. So the bottom line for the sector is a net profit of Kn 46 million.
In comparison, this is a good result as in 2002 the consolidated balance came to a loss of Kn 124 million, and in 2009 the loss was Kn 71 million. The best ever result was achieved in 2015, taking in a net profit of Kn 119.3 million.
In 2002, the entire textile industry exported Kn 605 milliojn, while in 2016 this rose to Kn 812 million. The number of employees dropped considerably, from 8,552 employees in 2002, to 3,523 in 2016. Their salaries are still well below average, at Kn 3,675 in 2016. It is a significant improvement from Kn 2,131 in 2002, but still about 28.5% below the 2016 national average of Kn 5,140.
Most of the enterprises are concentrated in Zagreb, 75 of them, followed by Primorsko-Goranska County with 28, and Krapina-Zagorje County with 22. Only one textile company is registered in Koprivničko-Križevačka, Ličko-Senjska and Požeško-Slavonska counties. But Zagorje companies took in the most revenuie, Kn 577 million, which is about 37% of total revenue for the industry. Top ten companies in 2002 had a profit of Kn 31.4 million, whereas in 2016 this almost doubled to Kn 58.5 million. The most profitable company in 2016 was Meditex from Zabok, clearing a net profit of Kn 8.6 million. Meditex was followed by Automont from Belina, netting Kn 8.3 million, and Vis Pomotex from Varaždin, with net profit of Kn 7.2 million for 2016.
