Rimac Automobili finally unveiled its long-awaited Concept_Two electric super car. An almost two ton car runs on a massive 1,914 horsepower powertrain. The 2,300 NM of torque push the carbon fiber monster to 100 km in under two seconds (1.97 sec, to be exact), and to 300 km per hour in 11.8 seconds. Top speed is rated at 412 km/h, which makes it arguably the fastest production car on the planet. https://www.vecernji.hr/auti/rimac-mate-concept-two-1230852
The car was developed in Zagreb from scratch, and every detail was designed anew. This includes new batteries, a new chassis, new motors, inverters, gearboxes, everything. The car houses the hardware that enables it to incorporate 4th generation autonomous driving once it becomes legal, which will enable the car to go from A to B and park without a driver.
Concept_Two also includes support and safety systems making it the smartest and the most connected car in the world. Eight cameras, six radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors and two lidars follow everything happening in and out of the car, up to one kilometer ahead. The car doesn’t need a key, because it can recognize your face, and it will open the gullwing doors when the owner approaches. No need to key the ignition either, of course. The car can even sense your mood.
Rimac All-Wheel Torque Vectoring system is the brain of the drivetrain, controlling four electromotor systems at each wheel. A special battery cooling system ensures two smooth circles at the Nuerburgring at full speed, and new ceramic Brembos ensure you can actually stop should you ever wish to. The new car is bigger than its predecessor, so it has more space in the cabin. Now you can take a spare toothbrush along.
The price tag is set accordingly, starting at EUR 1.7 million and can easily hit two million, depending on chosen equipment. Rimac plans to produce 150 cars, licensed for all markets. Testing alone will require RA to smash an unknown number of cars, but the planned sale of around EUR 255 million might make it worthwhile.
